What I Ate Wednesday... on Friday

Hey everyone! I told you I'd make up for my missed Wednesday post :) I hope you enjoyed yesterday's Throwback Thursday post with the snack recipes. Today I have a few pictures of food I enjoyed over the week. I only have a few but it's better than the zero I've been posting recently. I just feel like I'm rushing around all the time and just forget to take them but sometimes I remember just in time.

Here's what I've been eating over the past week:

Meal from the salad bar. Lots of carrots, some dolmas, roasted potatoes (very oily, only ate a few of them) and a cucumber and tomato salad (also a bit too oily).

A beautiful container of really sweet fresh fruit. This one has cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberry, orange and kiwi.

I drank many smoothies like this one. I had this one at work and it was to the very top of my large mason jar. I used my glass straw too which I love so much. This one is my favorite combo of banana, strawberry and pineapple.

As I mentioned yesterday, I went to breakfast with a friend on Wednesday. In addition to the great conversation and catch up, I had a really delicious breakfast of steel cut oats, cinnamon topping, fresh strawberries and pecans. It was from Panera and it was really good. I definitely recommend it if you are going to be there for breakfast.

So there was another meal I was going to post that I've been eating a lot this week but I'm going to save it for Sunday when I review the cookbook it came from :) I'm also getting really excited because in less than a week I'll be soaking up some sun and some best friend time and it can't come soon enough!

Hope you all had a great week. I still haven't been able to get to a mansion because of weather (and it's supposed to snow AGAIN on Monday, ugh!) but I'll get you the first post of my Gold Coast Mansion series as soon as I can.

See you Sunday!

  1. Sorry you're still having such cold weather!! I think spring has finally sprung here and temps are in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. But I'm sure we'll have one more stupid cold snap before it really warms up. I had no idea Panera had vegan options! I'll have to check that out.

    1. I'm jealous of your weather! It warmed up for a few days and then dropped to 20 degrees again yesterday! It's going to be 55 again tomorrow but then drop back down and snow on Monday. It's so weird!

They do have some vegan options and this oatmeal was really good! They have some vegan soups too and they are really yummy :)

  2. What an unusual Salad Bar you've found. Please post more details about it. Also, you're visiting your BFF much earlier in the year than usual. Try to look for a job and housing while you're down there.

    1. The salad bar is in a local shop called Sweet Pea Fruit Exchange. It's a mainly produce and I guess gourmetish food store. The have some great produce at decent prices. The salad bar is really good, the dolmas are some of the best I've ever had. They have fresh raw salad ingredients but I saw the tomato and cucumber salad and I can't say no to that! The potatoes looked good but unfortunately just too greasy for me. It does have standard salad bar ingredients though.

Yes, it is a bit early but I've been there in February too! I try to go in the spring and if I can afford another trip I try to get there in September for our birthdays too. Sadly it didn't happen last year though.

  3. Hmm, I think it's Ingrid that just had some dolmas, too. It's reminded me that I am overdue for eating a bunch of them. Your salad bar booty looks truly fab - too bad about the oil. Lovely, colorful, healthy meals.

    1. I am obsessed with dolmas :) I'm totally the dolma girl, definitely part of my heritage I think. Thanks, their salad bar is really good minus the oil. The fruit salad I got from that store shown above was SO GOOD. I've been thinking about it since I ate it, ha!

  4. Salad Bar adventures are always fun! Too bad about the oil, as the cucumber mix sounds great and I love potatoes. I am definitely feeling like fresh fruit right now, and this container looks so good. I didn't know such greatness existed at Panera! I will definitely take note of that!!

Woo hoo for vacation!! I am so excited for you, and I can only imagine the fun you'll have visiting your best friend!

    1. This salad bar really is great minus the oil! I love love love cucumber and tomato salad but I'll probably wait until tomato season to really get into it. Winter tomatoes are so sad! The fresh fruit was so sweet and delicious. I wasn't really expecting much out of the cantaloupe because I just associate the sweetest ones to come in summer but it was so sweet and delicious! I highly recommend the oatmeal, it was very good and not a combo I would have thought of on my own.

Aww thanks I'm really excited too! We both need a break and I miss him so much!

    1. I know I am too! We've been having some warm days here which makes me hopeful that spring will be here soon. I've been enjoying my sporadic smoothies though!
