First up some yummy fruit! Grapes, strawberries and pluots (!!!), all organic.
Romaine, zucchini (for raw zucchini pasta), carrots, tomato, garlic, basil (the last three ingredients for a raw sauce) and some huge celery stalks. I typically HATE raw celery but it is so good for you and is especially good for inflammation which I always need help with. I have a ton of Angela's Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter and I thought that they would be a perfect match and a great way to get me to eat celery so I'm excited to try that!
Here's the fun stuff!! I saw the new Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Squares (Vegan Cheez Its, what?!) and had to try them. I will definitely let you know how they are :) I also love salt and vinegar so decided to try Pop Chips in that flavor. They are supposedly lighter than potato chips? And I guess not greasy because they are popped? We'll see I guess! In the back on the right there are Sea Snax Chomperz which are some sort of puffed seaweed chip I think. I have no idea but again, I was intrigued so I grabbed some. I didn't realize how expensive they were until after I looked at my receipt so hopefully they are good!
Finally, my Whole Foods FINALLY started carrying my favorite and the only coconut water I will drink - 100% Raw Coconut Water. It is so delicious and as you can see they are bright pink! This is a good thing apparently because the antioxidants in the coconut water will turn pink in a reaction to the light so it is my understanding that the brighter the pink the more antioxidants? I could be totally wrong but that's what I heard :) I got one large bottle and two small eight oz. bottles... in retrospect it would have been more cost effective to just buy another big bottle but the little ones were so cute :X
This isn't part of the grocery haul but I just got them for like $1.50 each and I love them so I thought I'd share! These are my new water cups, one for home one for work. I love them because they are my two favorite things - skulls and owls! So cute, I'm so excited to use them.
OK that's all for today. I think my grocery haul is a good balance between healthy and a few fun treats and I'm really truly going to try and photograph some more meals for you. I'm going to start eating smaller meals more often again because my digestion is out of whack again and can only eat small portions for now before feeling yucky so you should be seeing some small, veggie packed meals coming up over the next week!
Happy Friday everyone. One more day until my weekend ;)
Pluots can not be in season again already! Time is really flying. Great news that you've done some weddings again.
ReplyDeleteYes I was so excited to see organic ones that were actually ripe! They are so tiny though, I should have gotten a ton more. Thanks, the long days amongst the pollen are not ideal but it is definitely good for me to get the extra work!
DeleteI freakin' LOVE pluots! I'd never seen them in the Midwest, but they're all over the farmer's markets here in California. I haven't tried coconut water yet, but I have this vegan coconut lotion that smells good enough to eat. Your water glasses are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI know, pluots are so delicious! I can't wait to get into these! I hate most brands of coconut water, I think they taste terrible but this brand is absolutely incredible! When you do try coconut water try to drink it right out of the coconut or try this brand. It's so worth it! Thanks, I love them!
DeleteHow cute are those cups?! I still use my owl mug regularly at work, and after next week - it'll join me at home!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try that coconut water. It'll be especially refreshing during the summer heat!
May has been particularly rough, I agree! I have been so exhausted, and am trying to not feel guilty for not attending the big end of year work party, and a get together for the yoga teachers and work/traders. I just need quiet and alone to re-set!
PB on celery is a great way to eat it!!
I hope your weekend is off to a great start!
Haha thanks, I love my cups! Hooray, I'm so glad you like the owl mug!
DeleteThis coconut water is incredible! I'm going to drink it as is or add it to juices and/or smoothies for a little sweetness. It will be perfect for rehydrating in the summer.
I hear ya! I'm a major introvert and being forced into the center of things has been physically exhausting but also emotionally draining as well. When I get home I just want to decompress and be alone so it's a matter of balance I guess!
I can't wait to try it with the sweet peanut butter, I think it'll be great!
Thanks, I worked in the studio today but it's officially my weekend now! Yay!! I hope you are having a great weekend!
Same here about not grocery shopping. my refrigerator was looking pretty sad until I finally picked up a few things yesterday, but I still need to get more to actually make meals this week.
ReplyDeleteI like pop chips but I don't think I've tried that flavor. Hope you like them. The Cheez Its sound cool but I was never really a fan of those so at least that's one product I don't need to spend money on...the coconut water on the other hand I LOVE.
Hope things slow down for you soon.
It's so terrible how lazy I was about it! It feels good to actually have options ;)
DeleteThe salt and vinegar are really good. It's one of my favorite chip flavors in general so I guess I would be partial to it. The Cheez its are ridiculous! I seriously love this coconut water, it's amazing.
Thanks, me too ;)
I love raw celery probably as much as you hate it, ha ha! Did you know cucumbers are also great for combating inflammation. I've been keeping some in my fridge to munch on on a regular basis. I love that you balanced the produce with some snackies. We love our treats in this house!
ReplyDeleteI wish I loved raw celery! That's great to know about the cucumber, I'll probably just start juicing them with other fun stuff! I'll add pineapple for sweetness because that is a great anti inflammatory as well :) Haha thanks, sometimes you just need a yummy, crunchy snack!
